Concept & Design Direction
I was invited back to design the regatta programme for 2023, evolving the previous year’s concept into a more refined and traditional visual approach.
The design draws inspiration from Staines Boat Club’s identity as one of the seven Remenham clubs on the River Thames. This is represented in the Staines racing all-in-one, which features seven distinctive stripes. I translated this into the programme cover through a bold graphic composition of seven stripes, creating a strong visual link between the club’s heritage and the publication design.
The cover illustration features a female Staines rower, reinforcing both the club’s identity and the sporting context of the event.
Photography & Content Development
As an ongoing contributor to the regatta, I also document the event through photography. This allows me to build a library of authentic, event-specific imagery, which can be used to inform and enhance future programme designs.
